Greatest Thing in the World...

The solid blessing in my is my family of friends. They watch out for me, cheer me on, and are always around when I need a new DVD and sound system set up. Here's a few of the lovely souls who make my life so much fun.

Mike - always ready to party.
Lorie and Lori are clearly a lively bunch.

My plan...

I remember adults telling me as a child “Time goes by faster as you get older.” Tell that to a kid waiting for Santa to come or an upcoming vacation and you might as well be telling her that one day she will not grow up to be a princess or ballerina; it doesn’t make any sense. Time does go by faster now that I am older. I feel like when I look up every once and awhile when I wasn’t paying attention, a month has passed. This year was no exception.

So, here I am at the start of a new year. I can’t say that I am one to make a big deal about New Year’s resolutions. I don’t believe that bad habits will disappear or good habits will appear simply because I decided to write it all down and posted it on the fridge or mirror. With that said, I also believe in new beginnings. It doesn’t matter if it’s the start of a new year or simply a new day – start with a plan and execute it.

I have a general idea of what I would like to do for 2008, but not exactly a plan. At the risk of sounding down-on-myself, I have a plan to make a plan for almost every area of my life. Does anyone have any good ideas for how to plan to make plans to make life a little better?

New Year's Eve in Vancouver, BC

Amber, Matt and I decided to go somewhere special for New Year's Eve. After careful consideration (airfare and exchange rates), we ruled out Europe and opted for Canada. Vancouver is a beautiful city with European influences but an easy-NorthWest feeling.

We stumbled on to a great little place called Glowbal on our first night. It was chilly, but we sat out on the heated patio and watched the people, enjoyed the food and made some new friends.
December 30 was my 32nd birthday. To celebrate, we shopped (all day) for new glad rags for NYE and then had a great dinner at Sanafir.

New Year's Eve day was Capalino Suspension Bridge, Grouse Mountain and Stanley Park before hitting the town for the countdown to 2008.

Our new friends at Glowbal and Sanafir referred us to Italian Kitchen for New Year's Eve festivities. Here we are...all dressed up and ready to go out for NYE.

As much as we wanted to sleep in, we were all up early and excited to see more of Stanley Park. We stopped at Sequoia Grill for brunch and then wandered around the ocean wall before leaving for Squamish on the way to Whistler.

Stanley Park
Squamish is a small town on the way to Whistler. It's charming, but not exactly a bustling city...it looks like logging or brewing is what people do here for a living. Our little hotel is just off the "city center" and part of a local brewery (best micro of 2007). We're heading to bed now so we can take in a full day of skiing at Whistler tomorrow!

My first blog...

I am in Vancouver, British Columbia starting my very first blog! Maybe I will make this a New Year's resolution...keeping in touch with all my friends and family.
